Upcoming Events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

In its 100-plus year history, it has seen some of the best races of all time and continues to be one of Indy’s top attractions. While you can take a tour of the facility, the best way to experience the speedway is by attending one of the events held throughout the year. Here are just a few events that are sure to satisfy your need for speed and your love of sports and racing cars.

Big Machine Vodka 400

On Sunday, Sept. 9, enjoy one of NASCAR’s most prestigious events with the Big Machine Vodka 400. Also known as the Brickyard 400, this event is a test of endurance for some of the sport’s top drivers. This year ushers in the 25th running of the event, complete with celebrations and a performance by Florida Georgia Line. Gates open at 10 a.m. on race day, but you can arrive on the Friday or Saturday before the race for food, fun, and friends. Grab a ticket starting at just $41.

Indy Women in Tech Championship

Located on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort is one of the most challenging golf courses in the Midwest. On Aug. 16 through Aug. 19, it plays host the LPGA’s Indy Women in Tech Championship. Over the course of four days, 144 of the best female golfers from around the country will contend for over $2 million in purse money, giving it all the fun and drama you can handle. It might be a far cry from a stock car race, but it’s sure to offer plenty of excitement. Tickets are just $17 for one-day admission.

Red Bull Air Race World Championships

If a car race doesn’t get your heart pumping as much as you’d like, the Red Bull Air Race World Championships are sure to do the trick. On Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, this aerial race returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for two days of close-knit, adrenaline-pounding, death-defying airplane races. Set entirely within the oval of the track, this course is specifically designed to test some of the best pilots in the world. It might be exciting for the pilots, but you’re sure to get a rush if you’re a true adrenaline junkie. Tickets start at $30.

Lilly Diabetes 250

It’s not often you get a chance to see NASCAR’s next stars, but that’s just the opportunity you’ll get at the Lilly Diabetes 250. Taking place on the Saturday before the Big Machine Vodka 400, the Lilly Diabetes 250 features the younger drivers of NASCAR’s Xfinity Series as they battle to get to the NASCAR Cup Series. Tickets start at just $51 and provide you unique access to the stands and other general admission areas.
