2015 Jeep Renegade

When Jeep introduced a brand new subcompact crossover model – the Renegade -back in 2014, it quickly became one of the most anticipated cars for the 2015 model year. Afterwards, as more and more of the crossover’s features were made public, it’s become clear that the vehicle is capable of meeting and exceeding all of the expectations.

The vehicle’s size isn’t the only new thing the Renegade brings to the Jeep lineup. As it’s fitting for a brand new model, the crossover is equipped with loads of modern features, including the 4×4 system, the powertrain, and the technology you can find in the interior.

So let’s take a walk through all the Jeep’s features and the reasons you might want to choose the Renegade over one of its counterparts.

Performance

Depending on the trim level, the Renegade is equipped with one of two 4-cylinder engines. You can choose between the efficient 1.4 liter MultiAir Turbo which comes with exceptional fuel economy and 160 hp of power and the powerful 2.4 liter alternative which provides 184 hp.

Both engines are available with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, but you should choose the second one if you’d like to equip your Jeep with a highly advanced 9-speed automatic gearbox instead. This transmission is available with just a few models from the Fiat-Chrysler lineup and is generally praised for providing excellent performance in addition to great efficiency.

Off-Road Capabilities

No matter how small the Renegade is, compared to some other models made by the manufacturer, it’s still a Jeep. That’s why the vehicle can be equipped with one of two best-in-class 4×4 systems, both of which come with a rear axle disconnect feature to save fuel when you don’t need full AWD power.

In addition to that, the 2015 Renegade comes with excellent approach, departure, and break over angles which ensure that this Jeep won’t be lost in truly difficult driving conditions. As we said, it’s a Jeep after all.

Looks & Size

The Renegade shares its platform with the Fiat 500L – the more spacious version of the iconic Italian city car. If you compare it to the Patriot or the Compass, it might look small from the outside. The Renegade is still surprisingly roomy in the interior, so you can easily transport your entire family or quite a lot of cargo in this crossover.

The vehicle features a mix of classic Jeep looks and a few modern touches on the exterior. While the overall shape of the vehicle is a little boxy and comes with the classic angular wheel fenders, the Renegade also features a modern version of the iconic seven-slotted grille and a somewhat relaxed back side.

Interior

The Renegade’s interior is fitted with everything you’ll ever need for a pleasant trip. The crossover comes with a large driver’s multi-information display which can be customized to show any data you need, including navigation, mileage stats, and other parameters.

In addition to that, the Renegade is equipped with an UConnect touch-screen interface in the center console which enables you to play audio via Bluetooth, use 3D navigation, or enjoy hundreds of other available apps.

The vehicle also comes with a handy Selec-Terrain control knob which allows you to choose between four different performance options meant for different roads and weather conditions.

Safety

Although the Renegade hasn’t been tested by one of the official government road safety agencies as of yet, we can already be sure that it will receive really high safety ratings.

The vehicle comes with all the safety features you’d expect to find in a brand new model, including a ParkView rear parking camera, a rear cross-path detector, a LaneSense lane departure warning system, blind spot monitoring technology, and a forward collision warning system which will slow your vehicle down if it’s approaching another one too fast.

Overall, the 2015 Jeep Renegade will certainly find its place in the manufacturer’s lineup. While it’s a great Jeep for first-time buyers, we’re sure even a seasoned veteran will enjoy driving this one. Sure, it’s smaller than your usual Wrangler or Grand Cherokee, but a smaller size provides better fuel economy and maneuverability in addition to the usual 4×4 performance.
