All modern A/C systems operate in the same manner by having a compressor to pressurize and circulate refrigerant and oil through the system to supply you with cold air. The refrigerant starts out on the low-pressure side of the system as a gas and then it is converted into liquid form in the high side of the system. The constant circulation in this manner keeps the vehicle cool when it comes out of your air vents and into the cab. Come into our service department today for A/C system service.
Your A/C system is a sealed system, meaning that it must have no tiny leaks in it or you will lose pressure and refrigerant and your air will no longer be cool. There are some signs to alert you to need your A/C system recharged. You will notice that the air isn't as cool as usual or it may not be blowing cool at all from lack of refrigerant. You may notice that you don't hear the A/C compressor running when the clutch engages as normal or you may actually see signs of refrigerant leaking from the system. It would be noticeable as a greasy film on the A/C components, fittings or lines.
As soon as you notice any signs of needing a recharge, you should schedule service on your car, truck or SUV. In most cases, you will have at a minimum a tiny pinhole where the refrigerant is leaking out of your system. This is an issue that needs to be repaired first, or the new refrigerant will continue to leak out and your problem with noncold air will not be solved.
