There is always something going on in Indianapolis, whether you love music and want to see a concert or prefer to check out one of the many spring festivals. Here are some spring events coming soon to Indianapolis.
Broad Ripple Art Fair
In May, the Broad Ripple Art Fair comes to the Indianapolis Art Center. Located on 67th Street and College Avenue, this juried art fair features more than 200 artists with work from all genres. There is live entertainment throughout the weekend and food vendors offering everything from BBQ to Mexican and crab cakes. There are art activities for the kids and activities such as wheel throwing for the adults to try. The Broad Ripple Art Fair takes place on May 20 and 21, and tickets are just $12 for adults.
Indianapolis is home to the Indianapolis 500 race, and the 500 Festival is a month-long celebration to get everyone pumped up and ready for the big event. Throughout the month of May, there are mini-marathons, a huge parade, and the Festival Snakepit Ball. On May 27, the IPL 500 Festival Parade will march down the streets of Indianapolis with floats, celebrities, and marching bands along with giant balloons to celebrate one of the largest single-day sporting events in the world.
After the celebration getting ready for the Indy 500, fans head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to watch the big race. 2017 marks the 101st running of the race, and it takes place on Sunday, June 16 with events on Friday and Saturday including practice days and qualification races. Join more than 300,000 other fans and watch as the high-tech IndyCars fly around the 2.5-mile track exceeding 200 miles per hour. There are several ticket options including reserved seats, general admission, and the bronze badge, which allows you access to the raceway every day in May. This pass also gives you the opportunity to head to Gasoline Alley to see the drivers.
WFYI Ice Miller Wine Fest
On March 3, the 18th Annual WFYI Ice Miller Wine Fest takes place at the Old National Center. This is a fun evening where you can taste wine, take part in a silent auction, and enjoy the entertainment. Tickets are $75 per person for general admission and this price includes the wine samples and hors d’oeuvres. For $150 you can enjoy connoisseur admission with access to exclusive wines that are not available on the main tasting floor and some additional appetizers.
This event supports the WFWY mission to educate and entertain the community through special programs and news. You can buy your tickets online at the WFYI website, and for an additional $20 donation you can get VIP parking right in the Old National Centre parking lot.
